A look ahead to 2020 permaculture events
2020 is shaping up to be a bumper year of events in the permaculture world, both here in Britain and for the global movement as a whole. Permaculture events offer the chance to build our network, strengthen our connections, share our skills and provide much needed hope and inspiration in the face of the many challenges we face in our world. As we enter the new year, we're taking this opportunity to look ahead at some of the key events coming up in the calendar.
Permaculture Scotland Gathering, 5-7 June 2020
The Scotland Permaculture Gathering has gone from strength to strength over the last 7 years as it crisscrosses the length and breadth of the country. In 2019, intrepid permaculture adventurers found their way to the Isle of Skye but the 2020 event returns to the mainland and is expected to be bigger than ever before.
The 2020 gathering is happening at the iconic Findhorn Park Ecovillage with hosts the Findhorn Hinterland Trust. Expect a fascinating programme including walks, talks, workshops, practicals and music. Join the gathering for a weekend of inspiring permaculture, campfires, music and dancing in an amazing location.

European Permaculture Convergence, 29 June - 5 July 2020
The European Permaculture Convergence is a biannual event for PDC holders organized by local permaculture organisations with guidance from the Permaculture Council for Europe. The EUPC happens in different countries every 2 years, the last stop being Ireland in 2018 The 2020 EuPC is going to be in Nethen, Belgium though there are currently minimal other details.
From June 29 to July 2nd, the EuPC will be focused on working groups, being more scientific and in-depth, but from July 3rd to 5th the main European Permaculture Convergence takes place with hundreds of stalls, workshops, lectures and music.
The EUPC was in Nethen in 2010 and organisers are looking forward to taking the opportunity to celebrate 10 years in 2020.

Paramaethu Cymru (Permaculture Wales) Gathering, 4-9 September 2020
The Paramaethu Cymru Summer Gathering will return from 4th-6th September 2020 at the permaculture farm of Matt Swarbrick in Gwynedd.
Henbant, is a small permaculture inspired farm that sits between mountain and sea in North West Wales. The farm has stunning views, wildflower meadows, lakes, woodland and a range of traditional and low impact buildings. We use a combination of keyline design, holistic management and permaculture to produce veg, eggs, milk and meat all in a sustainable way and at a human scale.
The gathering has remained small and perfectly formed over the past years, moving between a range of fascinating land projects and communities each year.
Tickets will go on sale in early Spring 2020.
National Permaculture Convergence, 11-13 September 2020
The National Permaculture Convergence is the Permaculture Association's flagship event and returns to the Hill End Centre in Oxford from 11-13 September 2020.
The convergence has a pattern of wandering and roaming across Britain, usually bi-annually. This time around we have decided to remain at our 2019 venue in order to grow and learn from that year's successful event.
There's not a great deal of information we can release about the event yet, but expect a packed lineup of talks, workshops, practical activities and chances to build all our networks and connections, not to mention the usual musical entertainment, great food and fireside fun.
Tickets will go on sale in March 2020. Please keep an eye on developments at our events website: events.permaculture.org.uk
14th International Permaculture Convergence, 28 November - 4 December 2020
Argentina will host the 14th International Permaculture Convergence in 2020 (IPC14) from November 28th to December 4th 2020 at the Ná Lu’um Permaculture Institute headquarters in Misiones. The overarching theme for 2020's event is ‘Children, youth and regenerative education’ with various strands of the programme fitting within this.
There is a 2-day conference to open the event which will be full of presentations, demonstrations and ideas about the permaculture design philosophy as experienced and built upon across the world. The conference aims to generate real, practical and concrete solutions.
The main convergence follows on and is built on the principles, methods and design techniques of permaculture. This event seeks to generate opportunities for practitioners of permaculture, people interested in the environment, in local and bioregional projects, alliances and national networks to participate and collaborate by learning, sharing and connecting more deeply with the subject.
Before the 14th IPC there is also an opportunity to participate in an International Permaculture Design Certificate course, open to adults, youth and children; and also a Teacher Training course. The convergence will be followed by organised tours of local projects and places of interest.
The Permaculture Association will be selling tickets for the 14th IPC and its associated events, launching later in January 2020.
